Hello! I’m Myra, thanks for stopping by. I started this blog because I wanted to share recipes, workouts and things that make me happy! And in turn, help you along the way to health and happiness. After my 30 lb weight loss, friends and family asked how I did it or what foods I was eating. I figured this was the best way to share it with everyone.
I currently live in the Kootenays in beautiful British Columbia, Canada with my handsome husband, my adorable chi-terrier, Paco and chihuahua, Abby. I work as an administrator for a real estate appraisal firm. I spend most of my day on the phone or in front of the computer which is why it’s important for me to exercise every day. I was never an overly large person but I was definitely tipping the scales. I originally lost about 20 lbs but plateaued for a few years. I strived to be more fit and more toned.
I drastically changed my eating habits by going mostly dairy and gluten free, eating less meat, dabbling with vegetarian/vegan recipes, counting calories and weighing my food. I HAD to know what I was eating, no more guessing game or thinking I was eating right. I started noticing a huge difference; I was losing weight and becoming more toned. I was starting to see the body I knew was under there!
I have most recently introduced more grass-fed meat and some dairy back into my life by trying a low-carb/keto approach. So far, I am really liking this style of eating. My skin has cleared up, I experience less bloating and I have maintained my weight loss.
I try every day to eat clean and workout. I live by the 80/20 rule – eat clean and healthy 80% of the time, allow yourself and indulgence 20% of the time. I’m never going to say I’m perfect because I do allow myself treats (ummm hello popcorn and M&Ms!) and have the occasional drink (or two!) I don’t believe in depriving myself of certain things, I just have them in moderation. You can read more about my weight loss journey here.
