Energy Boosting Chai Tea

This energy boosting chai tea is full of healthy fats making it the perfect breakfast to blend and go. It’s also sugar-free, low-carb and dairy-free.

Bulletproof coffee may be all the rage right now, but for people like me who can’t have caffeine and are sensitive to dairy it doesn’t benefit me all that much!

Insert decaf tea and coconut oil.I have made many versions of “Bulletproof coffee” using decaf coffee, coconut milk, coconut oil and/or MCT oil.  All have turned out fabulous but I have been really loving the change from coffee to tea.

I have been playing with different flavours of tea and have always loved the flavour of chai (I used to guzzle chai tea lattes back in the day!)  To kick up the flavour even more I added some extra chai spice.  If you have a chai spice blend on hand that would be convenient, but you can also mix up your own.  You probably have most of the spices in your cupboard.  All you need to do is mix 1 part ground cardamom, allspice and ground cloves, to 2 parts ground cinnamon, to 3 parts ground ginger.  Then store it in a spice jar and keep on hand for this recipe.

I drink this most mornings for my breakfast.  The fats from the coconut oil keep me full and energized until lunch.  I should also note that if you can handle caffeine, by all means use regular tea instead of decaf.

Instead of protein powder I added a tablespoon of collagen. Read all about how awesome collagen is in this post.  (You can omit this is you are vegan.)

You are going to love the flavour in this Energy Boosting Chai Tea; it is the perfect breakfast to blend and go!
