We adopted Paco four years ago from the SPCA in Kelowna.  He is a rambunctious chihuahua-terrier cross and so full of energy. We recently adopted Abby from a shelter across the border in Washington last May.  She is an 8-year-old chihuahua and the sweetest most gentle chi I’ve ever seen.  They make a great combo – overactive meets lazy!

National Cupcake Day, a fundraiser that is near and dear to my heart, is happening all over the country this weekend.  Our local pet supply store in Trail, Barks and Recreation, will be selling baked goods on February 20th and 21st with ALL proceeds going to the SPCA.  How fabulous!  I decided to donate some goodies for both humans and furry friends.  I’m making some vegan blondies for the two-legged and this fabulous cookie recipe for the four-legged furballs.

These Bacon Bites are made with simple all-natural ingredients.  They are also gluten-free for dogs with a sensitive stomach, eggs are great for a shiny coat, flaxseed is full of fabulous fibre and bacon fat is pretty self-explanatory, they will go nuts for them…I know mine did!

Be sure to check your local SPCA and see where the closest event is being held in your area.  And if you’re in and around Trail, be sure to stop in at Barks and Rec tomorrow and Saturday; buy a treat and save a life!  What better excuse to eat a cupcake 🙂Bacon Bites ~ All Natural Dog Biscuits ~ www.thehappyhealthfreak.com
