Hi all! Well, it’s December and I wanted to give you a wrap up on the November Paleo Challenge. I’ll be the first to admit that I slacked a bit the last week. I had edamame beans (because I had nothing defrosted), rice paper rolls, 2 glasses of wine (oops) and some chocolate (yum), it was all organic, gluten-free chocolate though! So yeah, I didn’t follow through 100% at the end.
My husband had more success, I think it was because he was previously eating gluten and dairy so dropping all that meant he lost 10 pounds. Way to go!!! He really stuck with it, I’m so proud of him! I however, only lost 2 pounds, but again, I didn’t follow it 100% and I was already off gluten and dairy, but still consuming GF grains and legumes.
Here are my before and after pics. There isn’t a huge difference, but I noticed my arms are firmer and my waist is smaller. Sorry for the not-so-great pics, they were taken first thing in the morning – sans makeup!!! Also, I noticed the lighting is a bit off in my bathroom, my back looks more muscular in the before pics than my after pics but I don’t think that’s really the case. Pros
- Less bloating
- Less indigestion/gas
- Felt firmer
- Weight loss
- Breakouts!! This was the hardest part for me and part of the reason I went back to green smoothies for breakfast the last 2 weeks. I’m not sure if it was because I was having way more eggs and meat than normal but it was getting pretty bad and I had to cleanse it out! The good news is it did clear up – pheww!
- Larger portions of meat than what I was used to. I usually have 3-4 ounces and a lot of the recipes called for 5 ounces. It was filling, but still a lot of animal product that I wasn’t used to having.
While I’m happy I did try it and got my husband on board, I think I will make a lot of the recipes again (and search for new ones too), but I will go back to only eating meat a few times a week. I think I feel better on a more veggie/bean diet.
I would definitely recommend it for people looking to give up grains and dairy and wanting to lose a few pounds!
