Dr. Oz 3 Day Detox Cleanse

Detox Cleanse Wrap-Up

detox cleanseThe cleanse is officially over and I thought I’d give you a review in FAQ style…

Was it hard?
Not really. Three days is do-able, anything longer and I may have said yes. The first day is the hardest but after that it is smooth sailing!

Did you loose weight?
Yes, I lost 2 pounds; however, I was not doing this cleanse to lose weight though, it was about the same amount of calories I normally consume. I do this cleanse to reset my body and flush out the toxins. I have read that many people lose anywhere from 2 to 10 pounds.

Did you still have the energy to workout?
Yes, but I modified my workouts. I didn’t do much cardio and took it easy on the weights. I had the energy, but I did not want to overdo it as I was not consuming near as much protein that I normally do.

What were the smoothies like and which was your favourite?
They were all really good and quite filling. Breakfast was my favourite, it’s the one I repeated as the afternoon snack. Lunch was the largest and my least favourite, although I did make a few modifications and the Vitamix sure helped blend all the fibrous ingredients.  Dinner was a close runner up for top smoothie, although the first time I had it I added too much cayenne; I omitted it after that and found it to be really tasty!

Were you hungry?
Not really. By the time I got hunger pains it was time to have the next smoothie. It works out to about 1,300 calories a day, and since I was still working out I even added a scoop of protein so it added up to over 1,400 calories a day. That was enough to keep me feeling full!

Did you miss eating food?
To be honest, yes! I do love to cook and I LOVE food so a 3 day liquid diet took determination. But again, I was never really hungry so that helped and to be honest, I may have nibbled on a carrot stick or two and a few blueberries may have made their way into my mouth šŸ˜‰ I think it’s the actual habit of chewing that I missed.

Did you feel nauseated or sick?
I did feel a little nauseated on day 2 but it didn’t last too long.  This is one of the side effects because there are toxins leaving your body. It’s perfectly normal; just keep drinking water! A bit of nausea is OK, vomiting is not. Stop the cleanse and consult your MD if you experience any vomiting.

Will you do it again?
Yes! This is actually my second time doing it and I will do it again after Christmas. They recommend you do it a few times a year.

What was the biggest change you noticed?
The biggest change I noticed was my energy levels and a sense of clarity. It really does make you feel awesome!

Did you go to the bathroom a lot?
Not to give you TMI, but the only difference was frequent pee trips. I was drinking a lot of water in between; I think I went to the bathroom a dozen times or more a day!

So there you have it! It was a great cleanse and I look forward to doing it again in 6 months. Another important thing to pass on is when you do go back to eating solid food, try to ease into it. Don’t go right back to eating those processed foods. Hopefully this cleanse made you feel great and you’ll continue fueling your body with clean, healthy foods!

Thank you for the information. I am intrigued. What do you do after the cleanse, especially if you were eating really unhealthy before?

Thanks! After the cleanse you would hopefully want to continue a clean lifestyle and would transition into regular, whole foods again. Lots of veggies and fruit, lean proteins, carbs like quinoa & brown rice, and continue to have at least one juice a day šŸ™‚
It will be a shock to your system going from really unhealthy foods right into the cleanse. It’s important to wean yourself off of processed foods, refined sugars and caffeine 1-2 weeks prior to the cleanse.
      I hope this helps!

Hi there. I’m starting this today. I’m not familiar with vitamins. Do you mind telling me or even “picturing” the multivitamin, omega 3, and probiotic please:) thanks!

Hi, I want to start this cleanse however, is it still ok to take my supplements after my workout? Such as one serving of protein powder and two servings of my CLA tablets which consist of green tea/green coffee extract, CLA and Garcina Cambogia?

Hi Valerie! Yes, I would say that you can still take your supplements. I took protein powder and greens with mine.

Right! I noticed in your videos which are great by the way. I don’t have a nice blender like the one you have, however, I have a Nutribullet and I am not sure if it’s going to work well with that lunch smoothie!
