It’s detox time again! Who’s with me?!

Hey all! In honour of my 100th post (yipee!) I wanted to invite you to join me in Dr. Oz’s 3-Day Detox Cleanse. I will be starting the cleanse on Saturday, so come along for the ride!

I have done this once before (prior to starting this blog) you can read that post here.  The 3-day cleanse consists of consuming 4 drinks (I call them smoothies) a day. This adds up to about 1,300 calories per day.  I will also be adding protein powder to my drinks because I will continue to work out, but this is optional! It has enough calories so you won’t feel hungry – promise! You also will be taking a multi-vitamin and probiotic and ending the day with a relaxing lavender and Epsom salt detox bath – doesn’t that sound lovely!?!  You will most likely drop a few pounds and most of all you will feel so much better! So, why don’t you join me??

Here is some more information on Dr. Oz’s website and here are the clips from his show.  To get you started, here is the shopping list that you can print out.  It’s hard for me to estimate how much it will cost you to do this cleanse since I did have many of the items already and just had to buy the fruits/veggies – be sure to buy organic! Also, stock up on fresh fruit now, wash and freeze them; I like my smoothies cold so I like to use frozen fruit.  The most expensive things would have to be the supplements, if you’re not taking them already. If you have next to none of the items on the list I have read it would cost around $100 for everything you need but there will be enough leftover for you to use them the next time you do the cleanse. They recommend doing this 2 or 3 times a year. I plan to do it again after Christmas and consuming numerous chocolate peanut butter balls, sugar cookies and TURKEY galore! (Is it weird that I get excited for Christmas in June?!?)

I would highly recommend you use a commercial grade blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec, especially for the lunch drink which has fibrous fruits and veggies like apple and celery. However, I read that people used a Ninja or Oyster brand blender and it worked just fine.

Please note they do NOT recommend the cleanse if you are:

  • Pregnant or nursing
  • Under the age of 18
  • Have liver disease or hepatitis
  • Have active cancer
  • Have Type 1 Diabetes
  • Are on medication for bipolar disorder
  • Have an allergy to any of the food items listed

    Definitely, 100% NOT weird you are obsessing about Christmas in June. My friends/families/coworkers/strangers on the street have come to know I am in LOVE with that time of year and long for it non-stop lol. I don’t know if I’ll join you in the cleanse — I really, really dislike the texture of smoothies — but I am cheering you on as I understand they can be challenging! Meanwhile on my side, I’m up to my ears in salads lol. And oh ya….happy 100th!!!! πŸ™‚

      Oh good to know I’m not alone! I seriously start thinking about it/getting excited right about now. Out of the blue I’ll just bust out and say “Oh my god I’m excited for Christmas!!” And The husband just thinks I’m insane.
      The liquid diet for 3 days is not for everyone that’s for sure!! Although I do love smoothies and have them every day, sometimes twice. Thanks for cheering me on and YAY for salads!!

        lol every few months on the 25th I like to post a countdown on my Facebook. It really gets a response πŸ™‚ And yes, I’ve been salad-strong for weeks now. Just haven’t really posted about them, but I shall! (Busy, busy summer)

    Hi … I am going to do the 3 day detox. Should I wash and prep all my ingredients before hand? I have read that the greens will go rancid if not used quickly. What is our take on that?

      That’s awesome!! I did prep all my food mainly because it was only 3 days and I didn’t have a problem with it going bad. I also bought pre washed spinach and the Kake does last longer than other leafy greens. I also use green veggie bags so my produce stays fresher longer. I froze and portioned all my fruit so it was eady to grab. Let me know how it goes!!!

    I’m going to try the 3 day cleanse. If I make the lunch and snack smoothies at the beginning of the day and took them to work would they still be okay when it’s time to drink them?

      Hi Kelsey, yes, that should be fine. It is best to make them and drink right away before they oxidize but sometimes that’s not always feasible!
