Go Get ‘Em Green Smoothie

Hey all! I’ve been experimenting with different green smoothies over the last few days and I LOVE that I can now blend more fibrous fruit like celery, apples with the skin and whole carrots; it really makes for a flavourful addition to my previous smoothies which were mostly fruit and spinach.   So, without further ado, here is my first green smoothie recipe in the Vitamix!green2Makes 1 large smoothie

1 whole carrot, leave the peel on if it’s organic, otherwise, peel it
1 celery stalk
1/2 gala apple (no need to peel or core it!)
1/2 cup blueberries
2 cups spinach or kale
1 Tbsp flaxseed
1/2 scoop protein powder (I used a casein vanilla flavour – but chocolate would be fine too)
3/4 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
1 cup ice
1 tsp pHresh greens (optional)
*make sure all your fruits and veggies are thoroughly washed, and always try to buy organic!

Add everything to the Vitamix and blend on low variable 1, turn it up to 10, then high and blend for 1 minute until smooth. Use the tamper to push the ingredients to the blade if needed.  Add to a giant cup and guzzle back those delicious nutrients!green1Nutritional Info
