My week’s vacation with the ‘rents

Hey guys and gals, I’m back! I had a wonderful week with my parents, the weather was great, the food was great, it was absolutely amazing. It was so hard to say good bye when they left yesterday 🙁

I wanted to share with you all the fun things we did.  First we toured around a bit, which included a visit to our local winery at Columbia Gardens.322Then we sent my Dad and Wayne on the hunt for supplies to tile our kitchen backsplash.  They had it all done in two days – hard workers!!photo 1(13)The boys got in a few rounds of golf while my Mom and I either went for some early morning walks (before it got too hot out!) or to the gym; we had to work off all that wine we drank 🙂photo 2(15)We headed into Castlegar for the day and went to Zuckerberg Island. Even though it was closed, it has some amazing hiking trails and a really cool bridge.  We also went to another bridge built by the Doukhobors called Brilliant Bridge.photo 3(11)We headed off to Nelson one day, about an hour away. We packed a picnic lunch and had it at Lakeside Park, so nice! We drove around Kootenay Lake and looked at all the fabulous-too-rich-for-our-blood homes. We then strolled along Baker Street to check out the shops and picked up some cooking oils and spices. The car smelled so good the whole way home!photo 4(5)We had some amazing meals while they we here. I blogged about that here and here.  We had a couple friends over for a BBQ, busted out the guitars and kept all our neighbours up I’m sure!photo 5(3)Their last night here also happened to be the last night of Trail’s Silver City Days. So we went down to check out the carnie food…deep-fried Mars bars and mini-doughnuts…oh my! Sorry, I forgot to take pics of those; we were too busy scarfing them down. Then it was off to the fireworks at Gyro Park. What a great send-off for my parents.photo 1(12)Sunday morning was Mother’s Day so we went out for a delicious brunch at Birchbank Golf Course. Then it was time for good-byes. Pheww…that week flew by!!  My parents are now back home safe and sound in Ontario. I hope they come back soon!21What kind of activities do you do when you have visitors?

It was a great visit, sad to have to leave our beautiful kids and that beautiful weather but it’s only 7 months to Christmas 🙂
