We are so lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places in Canada – the Kootenays. It is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground! Red Mountain Resort – which is known as “Canada’s hidden gem”, is a mere 15 minutes away (I can see it from my window); you can also cross-country ski and snowshoe up there. In the summer we’re surrounded by hiking trails and a ton of golf courses, not to mention the beautiful scenery and wicked weather – hot, dry summers, not too cold winters. Yeah…BC rocks! OK, I’ll stop bragging now.
Our fav outdoor winter activity is snowboarding. I try to get up as much as I can but being a slave to the 9 to 5 kind of puts a wrench in it, but I can’t complain! I feel lucky enough to get out there and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Besides being the most fun on a board, snowboarding is a great cardio workout, you can burn over 300 calories an hour! It’s a great workout for your legs and core. So with only a couple more weeks left of winter, get out there and enjoy it while it lasts!
Here are some pictures from our jaunt yesterday…
It was a beautiful sunny day…ahhh…I love the first signs of Spring!!!
What kind of fun activities do you do in your neck of the woods?
