That’s right! I definitely do not have time for the flu. We have plans to go away this weekend to a concert, so I do not want to be down and out. There has been a nasty cold going around and I’ve been surrounded (literally) by it. I keep chanting to myself “I will not get sick, I will not get sick!”
The last couple days I’ve tried to boost my immune system by making a few home remedies. First up was something cold, a ginger pineapple smoothie….sounds tasty doesn’t it!?! The ginger and chia seeds boost your immune system and the lemon juice kills bad bacteria. The banana and pineapple add nutrients and taste delish. Blend up this guy to give your body the extra kick to fight off a cold – karate chop!
Ginger Pineapple Smoothie
50g Banana (about half)
50g Pineapple (about 1/2 cup)
3/4 cup of almond milk
1/2 cup of water or ice cubes
1/4 cup of soy yogurt
1 Tbsp of chia seeds
About 1 tsp of fresh grated ginger
Squeeze of lemon juice
178 Calories, 29g Carbs, 5g Fat, 6g Protein, 17g Sugar, 144mg Sodium
Before bed I wanted something warm and soothing. I filled up my mug with boiling water, added fresh squeezed lemon – about half a lemon’s worth, one tablespoon of honey and fresh grated ginger. Let this sit for about 5 minutes then drink up!
I also gargle with Apple Cider Vinegar(ACV) diluted with water. I sometimes take a tablespoon straight up, down the hatch, but there are long-term side effects if done excessively – probably best to dilute it 🙂 ACV is know for its many health benefits, such as its ability to fight infection and boost your immune system. Make sure you look for raw organic, unpasteurized ACV that has ‘mother’ of vinegar. Like this one…

I also stick to my daily regime of lemon water and vitamins 🙂 Hopefully this keeps me in the healthy zone and I don’t catch that nasty bug!
